Innovation services open doors for Slovak companies in the U.S.

SARIO supported the business development activities of Slovak technology companies in the US by organizing company pitching events and presentation sessions.

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, organized a series of meetings and presentation sessions last week in several US cities (Austin, Detroit, New York). The aim of the business trip was to help the Slovak business delegation (Photoneo, Instarea, Decent, PowerEx) gain new markets and to present Slovakia as a favorable destination for higher added value investments.

On this trip SARIO was represented by Dominik Susa (Head of Investment Projects Dpt.), Oto Pisoň (Deputy Head and Innovation manager) and Tomáš Salíni, who moderated, lead and presented on the below-mentioned presentation sessions and meetings.

The first stop of the business trip was in Austin (TX), where the Slovak delegation met the representatives of Dell. The Slovak subsidiary of Dell is one of the most important shared services centers of the group, employing more than 2500 employees serving mostly analytical and financial functions. The presentation of SARIO concentrated on the reasons and supporting arguments why Dell should further develop these activities in Slovakia. Their representatives also witnessed two presentations by Slovak technology companies, namely PowerEx and Decent.

Later, the delegation then moved to Detroit, where it took part in several activities increasing the visibility of Slovakia as well as the participating Slovak companies. In addition to SARIO and Embassy representatives, Slovakia was represented here by companies Photoneo, Decent and Instarea. The first two days the delegation attended the Integr8 conference and participated mainly on roundtable sessions ("Integr8 Global Business Roundtable: A Global Roadmap to Digital Transformation “), a one-hour breakout session ("Slovakia Meets the Motor City- Fostering Industrial Innovation Across the Atlantic “) and VIP reception.  The visibility of the delegation was further enhanced by the common booth of SARIO and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic. Further connections were made during the next day’s business breakfast session ("Matchmaking across the Atlantic: US-Slovak Industry 4.0 Cooperation Potential “) with members of Automation Alley, organizer of the Integr8 conference.

The last destination of the business trip was New York, where SARIO and Embassy representatives met with the local European-American Chamber of Commerce and IBM. Both meetings were aimed at the innovation needs of US corporations. The aim of SARIO is to supply this demand with innovative solutions of Slovak companies.
