Doing Business with India: Trade and Investment

Location
Bratislava

On July 11, 2013, after a 7-year-long hiatus a session of the Indo-Slovak mixed commission took place in the Bôrik Hotel.

In addition to intergovernmental negotiations, B2B meetings were organized between Indian and Slovak companies under the auspices of SARIO.

The B2B negotiations were attended by Indian companies, namely Punj Lloyd, WizzCare and SIAM, and 8 Slovak companies mainly from the construction and defense industry.

The aim of the negotiations was to support Slovak export to India, broaden joint venture cooperation, and leverage new trade opportunities on the fastest growing market in the world.

The former Czechoslovakia was one of the largest trading partners of India in Eastern Europe. The volume of Indian trade with Czechoslovakia in 1991-92 was higher than with any other country of the region. In 2011 Slovak export to India reached 95.6 million USD, while from India we imported goods worth 287.7 million USD.
