Strengthening Slovak presence in the space sector

Strengthening Slovak presence in the space sector

On 27 January 2025, the Slovak Space in Brussels 2.0 event took place in Brussels, organized as a joint initiative of the Slovak Space Office – Industry Branch (SARIO), the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brussels, the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Brussels, the Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development in Brussels and the Brussels Representation Office of the Trnava Self-Governing Region.

The event aimed to strengthen existing partnerships and raise awareness of the Slovak space sector. It also served as a platform to showcase the progress of the Slovak space industry, highlighting key milestones such as the country’s associate membership in the European Space Agency (ESA), the signing of the Artemis Accords, as well as the growing participation and interest of entities in this field.

The event was opened by:

  • Ambassador Mária Malová (Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU)

  • Consul General Andrej Michalec

  • Director of the Industrial Branch of the Slovak Space Office Michal Brichta

The program included a panel discussion focused on the integration of emerging ecosystems into the European partnerships and supply chains. The debate featured experts from ESA, the European Commission, ASD-Eurospace, and the Slovak Space Office.

SLOVAKIA AT THE EUROPEAN SPACE CONFERENCE

On 28-29 January 2025, the Slovak Space Office actively participated in the European Space Conference in Brussels, a key conference for discussions on the strategic direction of the European space industry.

Michal Brichta represented the Slovak perspective in the panel discussion 'Pursuing research & development efforts and cooperation for Europe's competitive edge', emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches and cooperation within the EU.

Signing of the Memorandum with ASD-Eurospace

A major success for Slovak space diplomacy was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the industrial branch of the Slovak Space Office and ASD-Eurospace, an organization representing the largest companies in the space industry, the so-called system integrators. These companies account for up to 90% of the total volume of the European space industry.

The signing of this document is the result of a long-term and systematic cooperation between the Slovak Space Office and ASD-Eurospace and it reaffirms the interest in active involvement of Slovak entities in the European and global supply structures.
